A Total Solar Eclipse Will Have San Antonio’s Grip

San Antonio astronomers are in planning mode for an event still three years away.

San Antonio will see two eclipse events — an annular eclipse on October 14, 2023 and a total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024.

San Antonians will experience a sky “as dark as a full moon night” for up to for four minutes and 24 seconds, Speck a professor of the UTSA’s astronomy department says. The time will be 1:32 p.m.

The Northwest Side of San Antonio and surrounding Hill Country towns are on the 115-mile wide total solar eclipse path crossing Mexico into Texas and up to Maine in three years.
