Amazon Fires Employees Who Criticized Warehouse Conditions

Amazon has fired two workers who publicly criticized the company’s warehouse conditions during the coronavirus pandemic.

Emily Cunningham and Maren Costa, who worked as designers in the company’s Seattle offices, had both criticized their employer’s warehouse conditions on Twitter while helping to raise money to support warehouse workers.

Amazon says the women were fired for “repeatedly violating internal policies” and that “We support every employee’s right to criticize their employer’s working conditions”.

Last month, an Amazon warehouse worker in Staten Island was fired after attempting to organize a walkout after another worker tested positive for COVID-19.
