Beyoncé Is On The Shortlist For Best Original Song Oscar

An Oscar shortlist has been revealed for Best Original Song.

Making the list was Beyonce for The Lion King’s “Spirit,” Thom Yorke and Flea’s “Daily Battles” from Motherless Brooklyn; Elton John’s “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” from Rocketman; Idina Menzel, Aurora, and Panic! at the Disco’s “Into the Unknown” from Frozen 2; Dillon Francis, T-Pain, and Lay Lay’s “Catchy Song” from The LEGO Movie 2;  Pharrell Williams’ “Letter to My Godfather” from The Black Godfather; and Randy Newman’s “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away” from Toy Story 4. 

Noticeably missing from the list was Taylor Swift’s “Beautiful Ghosts” from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats. Swift’s original song was nominated for a Golden Globe.

The full list of Oscar nominees will be announced on January 13th and the live ceremony will air on ABC, Sunday, February 9th.
