Freezing temperatures prompt school delays and road closures

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – Several area school districts are delaying the start of classes today because of possible icy conditions on the roads. Classes will be delayed for two hours in the school districts of Boerne, Bandera, Blanco, Center Point and Kerrville.

Classes will start at 10 a.m. in the Utopia, Ingram, Hunt, Fredericksburg, Doss, and Harper school districts. Harper is canceling pre-K classes today. Buses will run two hours later than usual in many of these districts.

The San Antonio Police Department has released a list of current road closures:

WB and EB loop 1604 lanes have been shut down from NW Military Highway to Kyle Seale Pkwy
IH 10 and Loop 410 bridges are being shut down
HWY 281 at Loop 1604 both ways are being shut down
TCI reports all the northwest side bridges are iced over (street level)
There is a reported closure from La Cantera to Babcock Road. TxDOT has shut down part of Loop 1604 for icy roadway conditions.
All bridges and overpasses on 151 are closed due to slick, icy rains.

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – Because of the possibility of sleet and snow tonight and early tomorrow, Fredericksburg ISD will delay the start of classes until 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Buses will also run two hours late. If the weather conditions worsen this plan may be modified.

Harper Schools also will delay the start of classes until 10 a.m. and buses will run 2 hours later than usual. Pre-K students will not have school tomorrow.
