Gregg Popovich Spoke In Support Of Hispanics In Recent Zoom Conference

Gregg Popovich is no stranger to speaking on racial injustice and he dove into the topic once more on Monday.

This time, the Spurs head coach told reporters that Hispanics have also been the victims of systematic racism in the United States.

“Black and brown people are the two major groups that suffered these injustices,” Popovich said in a Zoom media session. He continued: ” it’s basically the same problem, but much more exacerbated in the African American community because of the ancient brutality and the history.”

The coach’s comments came in response to a question from a reporter about the level of participation the Latino community should have with Black Lives Matter.

Never one to shy away from criticizing Donald Trump, Popovich spoke on the president’s disparaging remarks about District Judge Gonzalo Curiel and his actions at the border as evidence of the systemic racism Hispanics have suffered.

Popovich said. “Who rips children from their mothers? Sane, balanced, empathetic people do not participate in such actions, and you see what we’re held to every day to observe.”
