San Antonio’s Fiesta Get’s The Nintendo Treatment

Though Melissa Montoya is far from the only one finding a way to celebrate San Antonio’s beloved holiday online, as the San Antonio River Walk Association is crowdsourcing a virtual version of its annual Texas Cavaliers River Parade, she appears to be the first to combine it with a recent video game sensation: Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

This past weekend, Montoya tweeted a series of screen captures of the Fiesta celebration she hosted on her Animal Crossing island getaway over the weekend.

Using a mix of existing in-game items and Animal Crossing’s extensive options for customization, Montoya was able to recreate the Fiesta 2020 experience within the popular game.

In addition to well-known Fiesta features such as live music and booths selling flower crowns, and cascarones, Montoya captured the essence of Fiesta with insane details including a dope Selena cover band and a extra-authentic touch of confetti and beer bottles littering the streets.
