Selena Gomez Accuses Tech Giants Over DC Unrest

Selena Gomez took to her social media to call out tech giants for “failing the American people” after rioters stormed the White House on Wednesday (January 7th).

“Today is the result of allowing people with hate in their hearts to use platforms that should be used to bring together and allow people to build community,” Gomez wrote on Twitter. “Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google, Mark Zuckerberg, Sheryl Sandberg, Jack Dorsey, Sundar Pichai, Susan Wojcicki – you have all failed the American people today, and I hope you’re going to fix things moving forward.”

After Selena’s post, Twitter announced it would lock the president out of his Twitter account for 12 hours, and the tweets that were made to incite social unrest must be deleted.

The president’s video where he told rioters to “go home” and also praised their actions was taken down from YouTube and Facebook.
