Taco Cabana Is Helping Ease Food Insecurities This Summer

Taco Cabana is trying to help ease food insecurities for families while children are out of school during the summer with free lunches.

The restaurant’s free meal offer includes a bean and cheese taco, chips and queso and a drink at all Texas locations from 11 a.m. to noon weekdays through the end of the summer for kids 12 and under.

“We have been part of this community for more than 40 years, and Texas has been hit hard during these unprecedented times,” said Patricia Lopez-Calleja, the company’s senior vice president of guest engagement in a news release. “We are happy to offer kids in our communities a free meal they love. We hope we can provide some needed relief to the many families that have been impacted by the current health crisis.”

No purchase is necessary, but children must be present when picking up from the drive-thru and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
